2nd Hard Drive problems: Scan Disk at start up

Sorry if this is in wrong section. Am using two hard drives with my XP PC. One hard drive is working fine but facing some problems with the second one. Whenever I boot my computer, Check Disk starts everytime on boot up. If I skip it my XP gets freeze on “Starting Windows” logo for about 5 minutes and then resumes. The only option I need to follow is to press F2 while booting up and disable the second drive.

Also one more problem with this drive I cannot see it so that I can format or diagnose the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: fsutil dirty query c:(Modify the drive letter accordingly). If it comes back as dirty, it hasn't cleared. For more information go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: CHKNTFS /?

Option: From a command prompt type chkntfs /D and then reboot, a chkdsk should run but not again on next boot.

Re: 2nd Hard Drive problems: Scan Disk at start up

Im having close to the same problem. although i switched my master drive with a bran new stable drive. n now it's making my slave drive think there is a problem so it dose the auto check on start up. n finds no problems the hard drive is problem free. so i switched my master drive back to the old one and yet it still wants to do the auto drive check for the slave. and yet again finds no problems. so i am wondering how do you shut the auto chkdsk check off when the computer starts up.
