Driver update for Microsoft PS/2 Compatible Mouse

Hi, I’m using Dell Dimension 4550 running with Windows XP Pro SP3 OS. I’m using a Microsoft PS/2 Compatible Mouse with driver version 5.1.2600.5512 (7-1-2001). Yesterday I ran Pitstop Driver Alert Scan to check if any of my drivers are out dated or need update. The tool just reported me an update available for my mouse that is 11-7-2003.

I tried searching web and Windows update but dint found this update anywhere. Can anyone please tell me where can I download the updated driver? Many thanks.

Whenever you want to check or update your drivers, instead of using these third party applications, simply visit the hardware manufacturer’s website and search there. You will find correct info. And as far as your mouse is working fine, why are you getting in so much trouble for updating the drivers?

yeah, i too agree with your friend. If your mouse works, don't worry about what PC Pitstop Driver Alert Scan tells you.

Not just Pitstop but all such applications are just waste of time. You should always search Microsoft sites for its drivers and all. By the way if you have a Microsoft "branded" mouse, you can possibly install the Intellipoint drivers.
