| Cannot login to my computer after Update KB951748
I started my computer this morning and couldn't login under any account. It comes up to the applying user settings and just logs off. This happened after the 7/9 update. I am on an AD Domain and can gain access to the computers drives but can't log on at the computer or remotely. I've tried safe mode and last known working configuration but they all lead to the login screen, just a little something I can no longer do.... I don't have ZA installed and am runing XP Pro SP2. Has anyone seen this problem yet? How can I uninstall this update when I can't log onto the computer? Thanks for reading. |

You need an update from Zone Alarm--I loaded it this morning and all is well. To get the update, decrease the Zone Alarm setting to medium and wait a while. You will get your internet connection back and you can download the update. http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cessIssue.html -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP Shell User "Dave F." <dflowers@gmail.com> wrote in message news:uHpRkXr4IHA.4448@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >I started my computer this morning and couldn't login under any account. Ron, note that the OP stated he does not have ZoneAlarm. He need to get to the add/remove control, but cannot log in. Someone needs to help him with that feature. He states he is in a Domain and I don't have those skills. Hi Ron, I don't have ZoneAlarm installed. I can't even log onto the computer after the security update so I can't even update anything. :-| When I start the computer I press Crtl+Alt+Delete. I get the login screen. I enter my username and password. I select "This computer" and click "OK". The machine logs on and I get to the windows background and hear the windows startup music. Then it logs me off. I never see the task bar or icons. It just takes me back to the "Press Crtl+Alt+Delete" screen. Sorry but this is not a ZoneAlarm issue. Thanks Richard, I quit reading at the end of the paragraph immediately above the ZA sentence. For Dave: Sorry about the useless answer in my original post. I did not read your post completely as there have been a ton of similar posts made since the release of update KB951748. My apologies sir. -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP Shell User "Richard in AZ" <me@mailinator.com> wrote in message news:eKnEPxr4IHA.2348@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Ron, note that the OP stated he does not have ZoneAlarm. > He need to get to the add/remove control, but cannot log in. > Someone needs to help him with that feature. > He states he is in a Domain and I don't have those skills. > > "Ron Badour" <Sorry@NoAddressBuddy.com> wrote in message > news:eRUexkr4IHA.3480@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >> You need an update from Zone Alarm--I loaded it this morning and all is >> well. That's ok Ron. With all the ZA troubles I might have done the same thing. <g> Dave "Ron Badour" <Sorry@NoAddressBuddy.com> wrote in message news:OqQE69r4IHA.4340@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Thanks Richard, > > I quit reading at the end of the paragraph immediately above the ZA > sentence. > > For Dave: Sorry about the useless answer in my original post. Restore your system to an earlier date .. from the recovery console I thought .. well it turns out you can't do that so .. try to boot to safe mode .. can you use system restore from there? How to start the System Restore tool at a command prompt in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449 |

| Re: Cannot login to my computer after Update KB951748 (Problem Solved)
I found the problem. It is caused by Spybot S&D. I was able to edit the remote registry and get the computer going again. the security update was just a coincidence that it happened after an auto reboot by windows update. If anyone else is having this problem go to http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=30447 for more information. Thanks, Dave "Dave F." <dflowers@gmail.com> wrote in message news:uHpRkXr4IHA.4448@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >I started my computer this morning and couldn't login under any account. Hi I have had this problem and simply deleting the update was not enough. You need to go to 'restore settings' (programmes, accessories, system tools, system restore)and restore back to 8th July - works a treat, -- Charles R "Dave F." wrote: > I started my computer this morning and couldn't login under any account.
