| How do I create a Virtual Port for USB
I have a Brother 5240 printer that works on one windows xp machine, but not another (i.e., a Toshiba laptop Satellite (A105)). The problem seems to be located in the printing port. In the printers and fax dialog box I notice that the computer that successfully prints has created a virtual port for usb. The other does not have this port. I would like to create the same virtual port for Toshiba, but am not sure how to go about it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I have installed the program several times from the install disk and the updated zipped file from Brother but still no success. The computer simply refuses to create this virtual port for USB. Again, Any suggestions would be appreciated. The USB port is typically created by the plug and play system. The spooler just uses this path to send data. The port is created when you plug the device into the computer. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
