rundll32.exe - Application Error

This is Windows XP desktop am using since past 6 months. Suddenly a problem started since yesterday. Whenever I try to access any system option in control panel, I receive the following error message:

“rundll32.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x01012800" referenced memory at "0x01012800". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program, Click CANCEL to debug the program”

I’m not able to use any of the control panel options. Any help would be appreciated.

SFC should be able to fix control panel file problems.

Simply click Start, click RUN, type the following and press Enter

sfc /scannow

This will fix the issue.
