Windows XP Crash Blue Screen

I am currently getting a blank windows screen with a curser at the top with
nothing else. Cannot ctrl+alt+delete nothing. I have a Compaq 6000 with no
Windows XP disc just a certificate card. I took yesterday to Best Buy to the
geek squad and they were only to tell me that it was a windows crash and that
I needed to reinstall the cd and walk through the steps. They wanted to
charge me $130 after the $68 diagnostic charge. When I got home I did not
notice that I did not have a disc to download into the computer. I do have
my son's computer but it also does not have a disc.

What can I do to get this resolved without having to pay a fortune? I would
like to save my files from my Compaq but I don't think my son's computer will
have enough room on his hard drive to save. Can you direct me on the right
direction to repairing this issue? I see that others have had the same issue
but they have not been resolved. Thanks Christine

It went through Windows screen then went blank with a curser. No matter
what I
try to do to get back into Windows, I keep getting the blank screen. I can't
get back into safe mode except with a black screen with the safe mode heading
at the top and safe mode in all 4 corners. But there are no icons, start
button or taskbar. Is there anything I can do short of a full destructive
recovery again? Is there a way to do a system restore? I can't get into
safe mode with command prompt, either. Can I at least do a nondestructive
recovery if I have to do recovery?

RE: Windows XP Crash Blue Screen

Safe-Mode is a "Black Screen" page,w/o icons & w/o a task bar,youre
selections are in text (4 total),select start xp in safe-mode,enter as
administr-
ator, open event viewer..Or,do you have recovery console available.

Re: Windows XP Crash Blue Screen only mouse pointer

[b][color="Green"]HI All,

I HAVE THE SOLUTION FOR THE BLANK BLUE SCREEN ON STARTUP WITH ONLY MOUSE POINT, I HAVE GOT THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM..AND I FIXED IT.FIRST YOU NEED TO MAKE OR WRITE A RESCUE ANTI-VIRUS CD FROM ANY ANTIVIRUS LIKE NOD32,SYMENTEC,MACAFEE ETC..,, NOTE:THE RESCUE CD SHOULD BE BOOTABLE ONE.THAN INSERT THE CD IN YOUR SYSTEM
THAN BOOT FROM CD,SELECT COMPUTER SCAN AND MAKE SURE SELECT ALL THE DRIVES....THAN THE RESCUE CD WILL SCAN THE ENTIRE SYSTEM FOR ANY INFILTRATION AND IT DELETES IT,...AFTER SCANN COMPLETES....JUST RESTART YOUR SYSTEM
IT WILL WORK FINE AS USUALL...BEST OF LUCH..
