start button, taskbar and desktop icons disappear

I’m using this Windows XP SP2 desktop since past 3 years and never had any problem until yesterday. Last night when I logged in to my computer I noticed there is no Task Bar or Start Menu. Also all my desktop icons were missing. I tried restarting the system several times but the result remained same.

Can anyone please tell me what is wrong? I don’t think it is virus because I have updated Norton security installed and I never connect any external drive to this.

Please help.

Hello Spiritual, There are several threads already available on this forum regarding the same problem with several solutions as well. I think you should check them out. I'm sure you will get problem solved. They are as follows:
Desktop not showing anything (no start button, toolbar, icons, etc.)
No taskbar or desktop icons
No Start Menu, Taskbar or Desktop Icons.
Desktop icons, Start button, Task Bar all gone; Wallpaper remains
