Internet Explorer 7 Desktop icon missing http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555849 If that doesn't help, you might want to post your question to the microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup or the SP3 forum. http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...2010&SiteID=17 Good luck Nepatsfan |

| IE Desktop Icon Missing On SP3 Intall Following clean install of slipstreamed WinXP Pro SP3, no option to show Internet Explorer icon on desktop under Display Properies>Desktop>Customize Desktop. Is this by design and, if so, is there a "fix" to get IE icon on desktop so when right-click can view IE Properties? If just create an IE desktop shortcut, can't view properties. Tx for any info. |

Try this instead, open the Registry Editor, Start -> Run regedit.exe. Navigate to the following location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel In the right hand pane, right click and select New -> Dword Value. Rename the new value {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} with a data value 0. Close the registry editor and hit the F5 key to refresh the desktop. Good luck Nepatsfan |
