Windows Management Instrumentation can't be started

After running WMIDiag script, it tells that the the Wmi system files are there but there are 7 repository files that are missing. I am not able to rebuild since I cannot restart WMI? Below is the error log:

Error: ADAP status: Not available.

I have tried WMIDiag remedy, i.e. WINMGMT.EXE /CLEARADAP and WINMGMT.EXE /RESYNCPERF

But the WMIDiag says the following errors "These errors are external to WMI"

I think that when you will clear the repository folder then it will start, just go to ...\system32\wbem. You may need to turn off the winmanagement service to do the same - net stop winmgmt

This problem can occur if any COM applications or COM+ applications cannot access the COM+ catalog files. So to solve this issue, follow the steps given in the link - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909444
