MsMpEng sucks up 1/2 my CPU after startup

I am stuck with an issue in my pc. The problem lies with MsMpEng. It is consuming really good amount of cpu power. And it occurs only at the boot time. In Task Manager and I can see the system resource too high. I cannot perform any other task. I checked on web and found that MsMpEng service is associated with Windows Defender. It is almost consuming more than 60% of my processor power. How can I limit the usage.

It is due to Live OneCare. It is necessary that you must remove the same and then test back. You can also remove Windows Defender if you want. But it is necessary that you install a good antivirus after that. Without antivirus your system will be at more risk. I did the same. I am not using Defender. I am using AVG which is an extremely lightweight application that works fine with virus protection and also does not consume high cpu.
