PC clock wrong - not updating

I am running Windows XP Pro. My pc's clock is out and not updating and it is also grayed out. Can anyone tell me how to get it to keep the right time? Thanks.

Can you try to check the time server that is used for setting the clock. The format of most of the original ones has changed so that XP no longer understands them, just change that to 'time-a.nist.gov'.

The pcs dont have a true clock inside them. The Cmos or Bios chips have a section that is used to keep the date/time and this is usually updated by itself. It is not a precise clock and can loose time. Incase the clock is out by hours/days, then the Cmos battery is failing and you have to replace it. The batteries are usually a coin cell type battery that can be purchased at a cheap price.

I would like to suggest you that first you have to double click on the clock and after that select the time zone option. You have to also check whether time zone is selected according to your country or not.

Well, this type of the problem normally occurs because of the CMOS battery in your computer. First you have to open the side door of the computer cabinet and then you have to remove the CMOS battery which is placed on the motherboard and then you can replace it with new one and after doing that your problem will get solved and date and time in your computer will be updated properly.
