Windows Explorer don't run - Desktop and Taskbar missing

I have a Acer Notebook with Windows XP and there isnt any issues with it till now. When I started it yesterday then it booted normally asking for password but the desktop was empty, there was no icons, no taskbar, no right click available. I was only able to launch the task manager. When I want to launch explorer.exe through the task manager manually, then I cannot find it in Windows directory but when I launch it then it gives me error message stating "Windows cant find Explorer.exe". Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks

Even I am facing the same issue but I am running Vista on my computer. Please help us out.

I think that if something in one of microsoft's updates early this year has cause explorer.exe to become more prone to crashing? I have actually seen this on many computers. Does anyone know about it?

I face a similar problem as reported here. Can anyone help me?
I use windows Vista Home premium.
