    Standby/hibernate problem

I recently built a new desktop computer with Gigabyte mobo with Core 2 duo and 1 gb of ram last year. It was running on Windows XP with SP2 and every other updates installed. It was working fine until 3 weeks but now the WD hard drive failed and I had to install a new one. I have replaced the failed hard drive with an exact same make or model and reinstall my OS and client software. But there seems to be some issue now. Before the hard drive failure the System standy and System hibernate functions woked as they should, but after installing the replacement hard drive and reinstalling all my software I cannot get the computer to go into either Standy or hibernate mode. If I open Control Panel > Power Options then I get the ordinary window, but the bottom 2 choices just are not there. Can anyone please help.

Have you tried to install the latest driver for the video adapter? Did you also try to install the drivers for your motherboards chipset?

Thanks for that it worked wonderfully. I have got a nvidia video card and something went wrong when I setup the drivers for it after the hard drive failure or reinstall. I went via the process of reinstalling the drivers and now the Standvy and Hibernate functions are working fine.
