How do I open local disk (C:)?

This is windows xp laptop. It was working fine since I bought it 6 months ago but today suddenly don’t know what went wrong when I’m clicking on C drive under My computer instead of opening the drive a pop up appears asking me to “choose a program from a list to use to open up local disk (C:).” Why is that so? So far I dint required any program to open C drive.

Can anyone please tell me what is wrong and how to get rid of the same? Many thanks.
