chkdsk utility

I run a chkdsk C:/f/r for a corrupt file called (permdata.box). I believe
that this fixes it, but sometimes I still get this message. I also received
a message C:\system volume information corrupt run chkdsk. What causes this
to happen? Is it computer games that my kids play? How can I find out the
source of this problem without having to run a chkdsk twice a month?--

RE: chkdsk utility

Games are just programs as far as the computer is concerned just like any
other program they are not causing this.If your volume is dirty acouple of
times a month most likely your hard drive is in the begining stages of
failing. Can you hear any sounds like clicking? that is a sure sign if you do.

RE: chkdsk utility

Hello Mike, No, I do not hear any clicking. I am always getting permdata.box
is corrupt do chkdsk run (about once or twice a month). The next error
message was The System Volume Information is corrupt run chkdsk. This is the
first time I receivce this message. I ran chkdsk/f/r.
Do you know what a permdata.box is?
