Change drive letter?

Have a backup image file of a partition on my drive. Problem is that it was
created from a dual boot previously installed on this drive and tthe drive
letter is "D". Can this root directory drive letter be changed back to "C" ?
I do not want dual boot on this drive and the op system is loaded the way I
like it? Used Norton save and restore when I created . Windows xppro is the
op system. If anyone can help me change the drive letter short of a complete
clean install I would be very thankful fo any information! Thank you all for
you interest and experience and willingness to help others with problems in
advance!

You will need to keep the drive letter as it is...however...
having the drive as your D: drive will not hurt anything except
your boot loader will not work.

So once the image is restored
you will have to fix that from the recovery console
the following command should do the trick:

fixboot

might as well issue the command : fixmbr
as well
