Missing shortcuts and folders in Start Menu

When I right-click the "Start" button and click "Open," I get a
Windows Explorer view of the items in the Start menu, as I'm supposed
to. The trouble is that when I drill down to
Programs\Accessories\System Tools, the Explorer pane that opens shows
only about 25% of the actual folders and shortcuts that do exist in my
System Tools.

I have selected to "view contents of System folders" and "Show hidden
files and folders" in the View options.

Any clues as to why most of the folders and shortcuts are hidden in
Explorer?

When you right click on the Start button, select "Open All Users". Navigate to
the System Tools folder and you should see the rest of the folders and
shortcuts.

The programs listed in your Start menu are a combination of these two folders.

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURACCOUNT\Start Menu

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu

Shortcuts to programs that are designed to be accessible to all the accounts on
your computer are placed in the All User\Start Menu\Programs folder. The
shortcuts placed in each user account's personal Start Menu\Programs folder are
only visible to that user.

Good luck

Nepatsfan, you're golden! Some of the folders and shortcuts were
created when I was logged on as Admin, and the rest when I was logged
on with limited privileges. I had never before even noticed the Open
All Users and Explore All Users options on the context menu.

Thanks a million.
