Net Framework 2.0 SP1 and 3.0 SP1 won't install

Have attempted to install SP1 for Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 several times
but theynever complete.

Me Too. There are lots of us affected by this, look back over recent
posts.
I first thought I'd downloaded OK but it just wouldnt instal until I
looked around the Forums.
My problem is that damn yellow shield which comes back every few
minutes. To punish MS I keep installing
constantly, then sending the same failure message to MS over and over
again.
Well I am retired with nothing else to do with my time !!

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, uninstall .Net Framework 2.0 and
3.0 using Add/Remove Programs and reinstall .Net Framework 2.0 first
separately. Be sure to turn off any Anti-virus programs during the
reinstallation of the updates. It is best to reinstall the updates and
restart Windows one at a time.

I forgot to add and emphasize that if you use the Windows Installer Cleanup
Utility you only want to remove the entries for .Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 .
Do not delete all entries, whatever you do! It is a very good idea to create
a manual System Restore point before running the Windows Installer Cleanup
tool.

Thank You Allan, it worked.
The SP1 is shown in Control Panel/Add Remove Programs. So a successful
download, I think.

The SP1 version number is not shown in C/Windows/Microsoft .NET/
Framework, it only shows the re installed
Framework 2 v2.0.50727.
The reason I mention this is because after re booting I've now got the
dreaded yellow update shield back once again telling
me I should download and install Service Pack 1.

I suggest you double check the installation by running the Belarc Adviser :
http://www.belarc.com. It will show you all installed updates and highlight
missing ones.
