Customizing Explorer sidebar

Hi,
I am wondering how to customize the shortcuts represented on the left side
of explore windows?
Thanks!

Do you mean the "Places Bar"?

Read here: "How to customize the My Places bar in the 'Open' and 'Save
As' dialog boxes in Office XP programs"

Thanks Ken,
I didn't know that area had a special name! The document you linked to had
been removed or renamed but I did find one that discusses this. I am sure
this is easy to do once you understand what they are saying there, but I
tried it and was not able to add the desired folder.
Kind Regards,
Sue

Sue,

I just searched on MS KB and found this article, which does give the needed information

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826214/en-us

The important step seems to be using the Tools dropdown in the toolbar (top right) to find the Add to Places Bar command - a typically unintuitive MS thing to do; why it couldn't be in the shortcut menu, or somewhere more obvious only MS can explain...

Thats the strange thing many wonders why and that is what Microsoft does. As you said, only they can explain it. Anyways, thanks for that link.
