100% CPU usage

I am using a computer with AMD processor and Windows XP. It is a very old computer and didnt have any problems until recently. Some months ago i installed Norton 360. After the installation I had no issues until 2 weeks ago. I mention Norton 360 only because this is the only change done over last few months. There is no problem booting the pc but after I start to work the mouse pointer freezes. When I do a ctrl+alt+del then the cpu is at 100%. After some seconds the whole computer unfreezes. At the time of 100% CPU usage Process Explorere shows Explorer.exe and ccsvchst.exe (Symantec Servive Network) each varying between 50 - 80%. Can anyone tell me what should I do to solve this issue? Do you leave your pc running for 24 hours and 7 days a week? Can you try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance Tab. Check under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak? You must be able to gather more information from Task Manager. With the Processes tab open select View, Select, Columns and check the boxes before Peak Memory Usage and Virtual Memory size. What are the figures for the 6 processes using the largest amounts?
