| CD-ROM Drive not recognised
Hi, I recently got a used computer with windows 2000 installed. I'm trying to install XP over 2000. I tried booting from the CD but I'm getting a message that no CD drive is installed. I them made a Boot disk(6) and tried booting from the floppy. the installation starts but then stops, with a message reading that No CD drive is installed so installation cannot continue. Also the computer has a password. I'm very frustrated since I can do nothing about it. can someone please help? I'd really appreciate it. thanks. regards, Andy |

| RE: CD-ROM Drive not recognised
Thank you very much Mark, I was able to replace the password and gain access. I really appreciate your help. i do have another problem though, regarding the CD drive not showing up in My Computer and Device Manager. The drive does work as it opens and closes and the disk spins inside. I even tried another Drive and it still does not recognize it. Any ideas? thanks in advance. "Mark L.
