    Cannot open any .cpl files

I am running Windows XP with SP2 on my computer. If I right click on the desktop and choose Properties and I get the below pop-up message:

    Window Title: RUNDLL
    Message: Error in setupapi.dll
    Missing entry:s

If I open up Control Panel I can see all the icons, but double click on any of them gives me the same message. Also, trying to open .cpl files from the run command also give me the same message. The setupapi.dll file does exist in the System32 directory and I have replaced it. I have also run sfc /scannow, that did not find any corrupt files? What other things should I look into?

You can try to run the .cpl association solution from the below link:
    http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

After that restart the pc to take effect.

Thanks for the reply but it did not solve the issue for me. I am still getting the same message when I try to open .cpl files. I also restarted the pc and the machine after I merged the registry settings.

So I wiped out all the data from the machine and started from the scratch and it worked in the end for me.
