| stop 0x00000067 config initialization failed
After malware / virus infection the system (XP SP1) ended up with being stuck with this BSOD - 0x00000067, I have cleaned the hard disk but I believe the System Key is still damaged. What could I change to be able to boot into the system and complete the cleanup? Is it possible to use ccleaner on a registry hive that is loaded on a working installation of XP? thx for suggesting hints, ric |

Ricardo Background information on Stop Error message http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms795675.aspx I found this suggestion which is worth exploring notwithstanding that it is not suggested for Windows XP http://net.mpei.ru/lang/rus/faqw2kxp/jsifaq/rh5024.htm "STOP 0x00000067" Error Message When You Attempt to Start Windows http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;317053 How many sticks of memory are installed? If your RAM memory is made up of more than one stick and if so this offers a simple way to heck for faulty memory. Open the computer casing and carefully remove one memory card (stick) from it's slot and run the computer with it removed to see whether the problem occurs. Repeat the process putting the first memory card back in and removing the second memory card and test that card. Make sure you allow sufficient time for an error to occur. When removing the card you will need to lift a retaining clip each end of the memory card to allow it to be removed. Take great care not to touch the motherboard. You can also get an Anti-Static wrist band from a computer store to prevent a static electricity discharge from you damaging the motherboard. http://www.ehow.com/how_895_install-ram.html -- Hope this helps. Thanks, I appreciated it, in my case due to infection it was due to it, rather than ram problems. I made a check with another module and it was the same bsod. Trojans and rootkits messed up the SYSTEM registry hive, so my controlSets didnt boot.
