Windows XP Home. I now startup with large icons on Desktop

I have tried various ways including 'System Restore' to revert these larger icons that now appear on Desktop to their original size on my wife's Dell notebook [on which she downloads games from Big Fish where I am suspicious that the error has eminated].

I have also run spyware programs etc. but the problem persists.

I can't be the only sufferer. Searching via Google hasn't been too helpful either so please can someone help!?

You can try to change her resolution setting upward. Just right click the desktop then go to Properties > Settings Tab and then move the slider to the right.

It could be the game changed the resolution to 16 bits display monitor, resulting in a big icon. So, you can try to see the Display settings bu right clicking on an empty space on your desktop and then select properties. After that on the display windows properties click on desktop tab and then click customize desktop button. After that click on Web tab and ensure nothing been checked there. Now click on the Appearance Ta then Affects Button and use the following trasition effect for Menu and Tooltips:
Fade effect

After that use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:
Standard

Now try to use Larg Icons and make sure this option unchecked. Then click ok to confirm the changes. Click Settings tab, ensure the resolutions has been set properly and the color quality to highest that is 32 bit.

You are not the only sufferer. I've had the same problem with a game called "Contraptions:The Incredible Machine" (a very nice brain-teaser btw...).

While playing this game I run out of battery,so my laptop turned off. As a result it kept the game's settings for the screen resolution (too big indeed).
