| Re: Administrator Rights Lost
Use the hidden account named 'Administrator' to log on and then one at time uninstall each update till you find the culprit. You could also create a new account to see if the problem persist. For XP Home users: Boot the computer into Safe Mode Do this by pressing the F8 key after the Power On Self Test is finished, until the Start menu appears. This will get you to the correct menu window. Once in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account and any other accounts. (Note: Accounts are displayed alphabetically). Use the Up/down arrow keys to highlight the 'Administrator' account; Remember as mentioned above: The default password is a blank (no password required). For XP Pro users: You do not need to go into Safe Mode. At the Welcome Screen, do/press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys twice to display the Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" (without the quotes) and 'if' you assigned a password when you set up Windows, then enter it. (Note: by default the password is blank, no password need be entered) JS "AleJen" <AleJen@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F4C77C4A-7ABA-43EC-A8E2-345109173320@microsoft.com... > Completed several Windows XP updates from the Microsolft Update web site. > Updates included the following: > > Windows XP Root Certificates Update > Windows XP Update for Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 Service Pack > 1 > (KB934268) > Windows XP Windows Media Player 11 > Windows XP Update for WMDRM-enabled Media Players (KB902344) > Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB896344) > Windows XP Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) > Office 2003 Update for Outlook Junk Email Filter 2003 (KB943552) > Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB938828) > Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB927891) > Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB930916) > > Rebooted the computer.
