Where is the CHKDSK log file stored ?

I let WinXP perform a CHKDSK during statup on several large partitions over night.

Where do I find after a reboot the log protocol of the previous chkdsk operations ?

Chkdsk:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...us/chkdsk.mspx

Open the event viewer to the time of restart.
Chkdsk offers to run the repair process by using Autochk when the computer
is restarted.
Autochk information is logged by the Winlogon service, so look for entries
with Winlogon listed as the source of the entry

start/run, type:
eventvwr.msc

Go to >
Start > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

click "Application" on the left

In column "Source" on the right half of the window, look for "Winlogon".
On the same row, "Event" matching 1001 is the que pasa on chkdsk.

Doubleclick that line matching both Winlogon and 1001.

If you want to cut time, you can pin the "eventvwr" to the start menu or toss a shortcut on the desktop and
save some steps while repeatedly waiting for chkdsk to fix your drive after restarts. However, I think zero
errors are unobtainable.
evenvtwr is found in the System32 folder.

Hope you find some more useful information about the CHKDSK and its Logs
through above discussion.

You can also save result of dos commands to text files, like:

CHKDSK /F C: > C:\REPORT.TXT

or

DIR/P > C:\DIRLIST.TXT

it works only if CHKDSK doesn't ask you to schedule the scan till next
reboot. Otherwise you will in blank screen and there were no processing.
Press CTRL+C to cancel command.

Hope this help, let us know!
