| Information Bar does not appear to allow installation of activexfiles
On a completely updated current version of windows xp pro, the yellow infomration bar will not appear when I try to use something that needs to install activex controls. I have racked my brain trying to get thsi thing to show up. I have adjust my secrity settings, checked off on enable or prompt for most combinations of the activex criteria and still cannot get it to show up. Can anyone here offer any help or suggestions? Thanks! |

ActiveX controls may not load as expected in Internet Explorer due to defense in depth changes introduced in cumulative security update 896688 (MS05-052): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909889/ "mhcountry" wrote: > On a completely updated current version of windows xp pro, the yellow > infomration bar will not appear when I try to use something that needs > to install activex controls. Thanks, I will see if either of these help. I will try the registry stuff first and see if those entries are even present. The symptoms don't exactly match mine, but you never know. If by activex not loading means that the info bar will not appear to allow you tolet the activex load then maybe that is the issue. I will try when I return home later. Thanks for the advice. I wonder if my other issue that I posted (missing Downloaded Program Files directory) might be related to this? check to see if ActiveX Controls is disabled. under Tools on Internet Explorer >manage add-ons >>enable or disable add-ons >>>look for ActiveX Control under Type. Enable it if it is disabled. |
