Keyboard and Mouse not working after using System Configuration

MSN was not installing for me and I used someone's recommendation and selected the basic start up (Diagnostic Startup) in the System Configuration Utility.

However when it loaded my usb mouse/keyboard wouldn't work. I figured this was because they had been disabled due to the basic setup (first time using the SCU)

I grabbed a PS2 keyboard and mouse yet it still does not work. I can use the keyboard for the bios settings.

Is there any bootdisk I could use to help fix this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Most probably it could have been because of conflict between some drivers. You should try doing System Restore from Safe Mode. Before doing the same i will suggest you to better give a try to "Last Known Good Configuration" option from boot menu. For more help better check this description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222/en-us

What keyboard/mouse are you using? I mean are they USB or PS/2? You should try connecting vice versa, like if the one stopped working is PS2 then try any USB keyboard and see if it is working or not. Did you plug the PS2 mouse and keyboard into the correct sockets - they will only work in their designated sockets .
