McAfee Causes Excessive Hard Drive Access mcmscsvc.exe Problem

Incase if anyone has recently uninstalled an older version of McAfee and reinstalled the newer version, the uninstaller fails to remove all of the old files. It then causes excessive access to your hard drive and slows down your system. So the solution for this issue is: Start > Run and then type services.msc and click OK. A list of system services will appear. After that find McAfee Services in the list and then right click that line and select the Properties option. On the general tab make sure that the file path goes to mcmscsvc.exe. If yes, then click on Stop and then change the automatic selection to disabled.

A list of system services will appear. Find "McAfee Services' in the list.
Right-click that line and select the 'Properties' option. On the General tab
ensure that the file file path leads to mcmscsvc.exe. If so, click on 'Stop'
and then change the 'Automatic' selection to 'Disabled'.

    I tried

Start --> Run --> type in 'services.msc' --> click OK. On the General tab
ensure that the file file path leads to mcmscsvc.exe. If so, click on 'Stop'
and then change the 'Automatic' selection to 'Disabled'.

But then could not connect to the internet after doing the above.

I had Norton install and uninstalled it before installing Mcafee, I thought!

There was still "Symantec Technical Support Web Controls" installed that I missed.

I went to Control Panel and uninstalled "Symantec Technical Support Web Controls" and now mcmscsvc.exe runs normal, zero cpu usage.

    Update - mcmscsvc.exe is still a problem.

My next step was to uninstall Spyweeper but that didn't help.

I then uninstalled Mcafee and got Zone Alarm instead.

    Now everything is running great.
