I can't See my Hidden files in anyway - A Serious Problem.

HI, I am using Windows XP with Service Pack, AVG Antivirus and all recent patches from Windows Update. Seems like something went wrong, I am not able to see Hidden files and folders any more. I have several documents kept hidden to prevent them from my kids. Now though I change the explorer settings from Folder options to “Show hidden files and folders” it wont show my folders.

I have tried several things so far from web but nothing helped. Do anyone of you have been through such situation? How to get hidden folders? Please help.

What happens when you type the hidden folder location in windows explorer manually? Does it opens? Example: G:\xxxxxxx\<hiddenfolder name>

Let me know if you receive any error message here. Apart from this, i think your AVG antivirus might be the one creating this problem. If above method wont work, try uninstall AVG and see if it bring back your hidden files.

Well i dont think any security suite will conflict with hidden files functionality. Probably there would have been some registry conflict due to which the problem occurred. What you can do is repair the registry or simply download the following reg files which will fix the same automatically:

Enable/Disable Show Hidden Files/Folders

Reveal Hidden Dll Files/Icons - Undo
