I had the same problem, then ran across an article that mentioned disabling
your anti-virus program before running system restore.

I use Norton, disabled it, and System Restore worked like it was supposed
to ... you might want to give that a try

    Good Luck,
    Dave.

    WOW! Nice job troubleshooting.

At this point I suspect that there is a corrupt restore point.

I would suggest reinstalling System Restore. The down side is all restore
points will be deleted. That doesn't matter because they don't work anyway.

    Hi Ben,

Take a look in Event Viewer for any "sr" and "srservice" that may be there
    and post them here.

    Re: System RESTORE won't work

    Hi Ben,

Theres no indication of a problem with System Restore in these events.

Do a test to confirm System Restore is functioning correctly.

Create a new restore point named TEST.

Create a new shortcut on the desktop and point it to My Computer or any
other file of your choice and name it TEST.

Now restore to the Test restore point.

The system will now reboot, and you will receive a message if the restore
was successful, and the Test shortcut on the desktop will be gone.

    Can't figure it out

Ok, so I have 2 problems. First, whenever I do a google search, clicking on a result takes me to a totally different page. Second, I tried system restore, but it won't run. I tried to find the reason, and eventually downloaded HijackThis. Any help would be awesome/ Here's the log.
