USB 2.0 driver for Windows XP SP2

I used Dell's reinstallation of XP SP2 to reinstall my XP machine. But
the resources CD only has the driver for USB 2.0 for XP SP1. Now when I
tried to install the driver, I keep getting the wrong version. I looked
everything and could not find USB 2.0 driver just for Windows XP SP2.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue other than uninstalling sp2?
Please advise!

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!!!

From Device Manager, find the USB ports and then right click each in turn
and click on Update Driver.

But it cannot find the driver to install. Where can I find USB driver
for XP sp2 instead of sp1? I do have the driver for xp sp1 and when I
tried to install the usb driver, I was told that it was not the right
version. Please advise!

The full SP2 package can be found at:

You need to give us as much of information as possible so that we can give you proper solution for the querie asked, since you havent specified much details. What is the make or model of the external hard disk that you have? Was it working properly before? Have you tried connecting it to some other usb port to check whether its the usb port problem or the external hard disk problem.

Re: USB 2.0 driver for Windows XP SP2

i also have a problem with windows xp sp2 usb drivers.....i recently reformatted my hard-drive, and started from scratch. now i cannot get my usb ports to use 2.0 . i know they are ALL usb 2.0 ports as the root hub is "enhanced". (this refers to the name in the device manager) i cannot get the ports to use highspeed 2.0. i have tried to reinstall all new drivers. i know they are all 2.0 because i have had multiple highspeed devices on it prior to the reformat.....

PLEASE HELP!
