My network places freezes

It seems my nteowork places no longer works. If I click on the my network
places icon on the start menu, drop down box from my computer, or from
internet explorer the window stops responding. If I look at tasks running it
stats "not responding." If I click end the screeen goes blank and then
reloads the screen. Ocassionally this allows me to open my networking,
however One to three clicks into netowrk shares the window freeezes again.

HELP!!!

Eric

Hi Eric,
Adding to Mark advice:
I will make sure there is no Conflict between the NIC and other Devices on
that machine by going to the Device manager and best if you uninstalled it
and reinstall the NIC.
Other option the settings for the TCP/IP may be messed up or there is
service missing there not installed or mess configured.
Try this:
Click Control Panel >> Tools >> Folder Options >> Offline Files:
[ ] Enable Offline Files <= Uncheck this box.

Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network Connections >> Right click your LAN
connection and select Properties
Click on Configure then Advanced Tab then Select/Highlight:
Link Speed & Duplex Set the value to Auto Detect.
Does this machine has a VPN connection?.
Also make sure the machine is clean?.
HTH.

Re: My network places freezes

In my case My Network Places appears to hang any time it's added an entry to
it's list that's no longer valid. It's also a pita to try and delete it as
right clicking on entry basically hangs window. I've found it starts working
no problem again after I use Windows Explorer to browse to the appropriate
sub-folder (under Documents and Settings) and delete the entry (which
appears as a file in Explorer).

Because of this behavior, I've found it easier to just have my own folder
available with shortcuts to the network connections I want and/or use.
