restoring welcome screen/fast user switching

I turned off the welcome screen and fast user switching via unchecking the
"use the welcome screen" and "use fast user switching."

NOW I CAN'T TURN IT BACK ON!

When I click on "change the way user log on," I get:

"A recently installed program has disabled the welcome screen and fast user
switching. To restore....you must uninstall....the following file may
help....vrlogon.dll."

How do I reverse this process? BTW, "system restore" was turned off, so
this option is not available.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim

RE: restoring welcome screen/fast user switching

Hi Jim,

vrlogon.dll appears to be related to an integrated FingerPrint Reader. If
this error is occurring on a Lenovo Thinkpad, see if the information here
helps resolve the problem:

Fingerprint Reader protected logon causes vrlogon.dll error - ThinkPad T42,
T42p, Z60m, Z60t

or

See if d/loading and running this fix, provided by Doug Knox, helps to
resolve the problem:

Fix Windows® XP Logon/Restore Welcome Screen
