    Windows XP error 0x1000000a (0xf8998080, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x804d9b68)

    Hello All,

I use Windows Xp Home. Recently I have experienced sudden reboots on my laptop - Dell Inspiron 8600, for no reason apparantly. After one such incidence I looked into Event Viewer and found this.

    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: Save Dump
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1001
    Date: 5/17/2007
    Time: 10:41:55 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: ash
    Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000000a (0xf8998080, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x804d9b68). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini051707-01.dmp.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Normally computer functions ok after reboot. But I am working on my thesis and cannot have computer dying out one day. So I would like to know whats causing this so that I can prevent it if possible. I looked into dump files but they are beyond my comprehension. Maybe one of you will be able to tell me whats causing this problem. I googled the exact same error but had no results. Please help. I have uploaded a few dump files, saved as text, otherwise I was unable to upload those, having invalid extension.

The Stop error message that you are getting usually occurs during installation when there was an attempt in kernel mode to touch pageable memory at too high a process internal request level (IRQL). To solve this error, follow the steps given here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314063

Looks like issue with unsigned drivers in your system. You have to fix the same. For that Press Windows key + R to launch the run box. In that type Verifier and hit enter. You will get a Driver Verifier Manager Window. From that you can choose Standard Settings. The next thing you have to do is select Automatically select unsigned drivers. That's it. Reboot your pc and check back. If still you are getting the issue then try running a driver updater software. This will scan your system hardware and update everything.

You are getting this error because of damage system file. You will have to boot in safe mode. IF the system is working fine then you will have to backup your data first and later on you can go ahead with complete windows installation. But in safe mode also if your system is crashing then you have to use a live disc to boot and copy data from the same. Go with clean installation and this would resolve the issue.
