STOP: c0000218 unknown Hard error

My desk top computer does a continuing restart and access the Windows Start
Up on the screen. However, once getting past the "Windows Start Up" screen it
goes to the black screen and shows a list of all divers loading. and then the
PC shuts down and coninues with the same symptom of shutting down and then
relaoding again and never reaching a complete boot up. Sme problem with
trying to start in Safe Mode or any other mode. After this coninues for a
few times. I receive the Ole Blue Screen of Death" with:
STOP: c0000218 unknown Hard Error
unknown Hard error
Beginning dump of physical memory

Does anyone know of a fix? Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
By-the-way, I am currenlty utilizing a lap top since I cannot load my home
desktop pc.

When the Startup Menu appears make sure that you have selected the
"Safe Mode" option from the menu.

If that does not work then try selecting the "Last Known Good
Configuration" option.

If neither of these works then your next step is to try a Repair
Install of Windows XP as per the instructions at
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.html

Good luck

Re: STOP: c0000218 unknown Hard error

Thanks Ron, However, I cannt get that far. I am unable to get to the point of
choosing, Safe Mode nor "Last Known Good Configuration. Now when I restart
the PC, the following message is displayed:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
Boot failure: System Halted

That is as far as I can get whe restarting.

Added to the good advices from Ron I just point at two links which may be
useful, addressing Stop: 0x0000218:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822705/en-us
http://support.microsoft.com/search/...False&x=13&y=9

However (and unfortunately) is a progress in having control of booting the
PC required before the references are of any help.
