How to move Shared Documents to an other partition?

Hi all,

my system is WinXP Home, SP2, and there are 3 users on my PC. I would like
to move the folder 'Shared Documents' to an other partition, from
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents to, say,
F:\DocumentsShared. Why? I'd like to separate System and Userdata. I've
already moved, for each user, the folders 'My Documents' to partition F:\.
This was easy. However, moving the folder 'Shared Documents' to F:\, thus
enabling each user to have access to Shared Documents, Shared Pictures, and
Shared Music, seems to be impossible:

TweakUI cannot do it, tells me to move this folder manually. But this does
not work (in contrast to 'My Documents'), I get the error message "Shared
Documents" is a system folder and cannot be moved from C: to F:". Is this
really so? Why can't I move shared documents, pictures, music, and videos to
an other partition, such that each user has easy access to shared documents,
pictures and videos when he clicks on 'Shared Documents'? It works for 'My
Documents', why not for shared ones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you run setup for XP to a clean partition, you get the option to use an
'answer file' to establish things like the "ProfileDir" (Docs and settings
folder). This would allow you to use the other drive for all profiles, not
just the all users profile. (see 'deploy.cab' in the setup CD)
If dragging the folder fails, there's not another way, as TweakUI points
out. If you are on Home Edition, you might try it in Safe Mode (F8 on
restart) and as the default "Administrator" account.

1) I cannot see an Administrator account now in normal mode: There was one.
though, when I bought the PC preinstalled with WinXP Home. I never used this
account, did not know how to log in. However, after recently having
reinstalled WinXP Home, I see only the three users I created, one for me
with admin rights. Yet strangely, when I created the users anew, the name
"Administrator" was reserved and was not allowed!

2) Even if I should be able to see the Administrator account in safe mode,
how do I log in? Which password should I use? In safe mode, can I do the
things I cannot do in normal mode? E.g., moving "Shared Documents" to
another partition?

3) Is there a link I could find information about this - for me - mysterious
"Administrator?

Ok, now I know. Too bad I cannot use this Administrator account in WinXP
Home's normal mode. Would save me my admin account!

Please be aware that it is VERY BAD PRACTICE to use the built-in
Administrator account on a day-to-day basis and as your only account on the
computer. If the account gets corrupted, as it may well do, then your ONLY
way into the machine is by doing a repair install of XP. Thai is why you
have a self-created account with admin rights for day to day use AND the
built-in Administrator account for emergency access .

Gordon, this is a misunderstanding:

Right now I have 3 accounts, User1 with admin rights for aministration work,
User2 and User3 with restricted rights for day-to-day use. If I could use
the Adminstrator account for administration in normal mode, I could drop my
User1. Would be one account less. By the way, am I wrong or could I use the
Administrator account in normal mode with WinXP Professional? If so, why not
in WinXP Home?
