Compressed (zipped) Folder "Cannot create output file."

Today I was trying to create a zip file with few of my documents. While doing the same, instead of creating Zip file, system I created a file with some weird name with 2 upper case letters,2 lower case letters and 5 numbers with the following error message:

    "Cannot create output file."

I tried it more than 10 times but the result remained same. I don’t know what to do. This is Windows XP with SP2. Please help.

Hello Sauvan, just try out the following steps and let me know what happens:

    • Double-click the parent compressed folder.
    • Click the compressed folder into which you want to copy the file or from which you want to delete the file.
    • On the File menu, click Extract, and then click Browse.
    • In the Browse For Folder window, click Desktop, and then click OK.
    • Click Next, and then click Finish.
    • Close the parent compressed folder.
    • Copy the file to or delete the file from the extracted folder on the desktop, and then close the extracted folder.
    • Drag the extracted folder to the parent compressed folder.
    • When you are prompted to replace the existing file, click Yes.

I figured out how to do it. You have to rename the file you mentioned with the extension .zip, and then you can extract it as a regular compressed folder with a password.
