Windows Installer pops up whenever i try to run a program

I have installed the latest version of Internet Explorer and after that if I try to open any MS office program or IE then a Windows Installer message pops up saying "Preparing to install", which will shut after 30 seconds. So I uninstalled IE7 and restored the pc to earlier date but still am getting the same issue? Is there anyone who knows the solution for this issue? Thanks

Have you tried to run the windows installer cleanup utility. Just download this tool by searching it from the net and install it and then use it to clear the issue.

You can try to disable the Windows Installer that pops up every now and then. Just go to Start and then run and then type msconfig. After that open programs or startup and then untick the box 'windows installer' and then click apply and then do a restart of the pc. But note that you will have to reverse the procedure when you would like to install a program.
