Cannot share printer

I need some help with printer sharing. It is not working. I am using a printer at my office. My pc has windows xp. The printer is directly attached to my pc. When I try to share the printer it is not working. I am getting a error that directory service is not available. The sharing process is simple and there is no notification available about the error. I am having a hp usb printer. Can anyone tell me how to deal with the problem.

You will need to enable file and printer sharing first. It is disabled in your system due to which you are getting that error. Go in Network places and right click on the lan adapter. Click on Properties and there choose File and Printer Sharing. You can find checkbox options there that you can enable and disable. Later on go back to the printer properties and share it. That's all. This will be working well.

Go in printers and faxes section and first check that the printer is active or not. Just right click on the same and click on properties. In that you can find the status whether it is available or not. If it is written as unavailable then there is some issue with the printer driver. Just re-install the same back again and then try to share it. I am sure that will be enough.
