Adobe Reader

I have been using Adobe 7.0.8, and want to upgrade to Adobe 8.0. I've tried
to uninstall the old version first, but I get the message (under both remove
and change) Patch Package cannot be opened. When I try to install Abode 8.0 I
get a 1714 error message. Older version of Adobe Reader 8 can't be removed.
Any suggestions on how to remove the old version?

Download and reinstall 7.0.8 - then reboot and then uninstall it.

Also - go to Adobe's site for better help with Adobe's products. =)

Contact Adobe for assistance with their product. This is a Windows
newsgroup; totally different companies and products.

actually it is really a Microsoft-problem!

and here is the solution: ( error 1714 )

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowled....cfm?id=320310

http://support.microsoft.com

msicuu2.exe

( download msicuu.exe and save it somewhere , double-click it and follow the onscreen instructions, Identify the version of Adobe Reader that is causing the issue and correctly remove it using the following steps: ..........)etc.

believe me - it works, I´d searched for a long time, ´till Í´ve found this solution!!

It is *not* a Microsoft problem.

Notice that solutions 1-3 are Adobe solutions...
Then adobe turns to a Microsoft tool that is not made for this specific
problem - but to help with a similar issue and this problem *may* be
related. The solution may/may not work.

The easiest thing to do is to reinstall the bum application (same version)
and then uninstall it. That way - if you have no corruption - the bum
application will write its uninstall information to the registry correctly
and it should also be able to be uninstalled correctly.
