| Event Viewer Log Error
Windows XP Pro Media Center Edition. I checked the Event Viewer and I am getting a Service Control Manager Error in the System Log every time the computer is started. Properties for the error are as follows: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7000 Date: 2/10/2005 Time: 5:27:04 PM User: N/A Computer: HOME Description: The mrtRate service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. Any way to fix this error? |

Greg, DLL File: mrtrate or mrtrate.dll DLL Name: Intuit Quicken DLL http://www.liutilities.com/products/...brary/mrtrate/ If you've already removed Quicken, then you can remove the orphaned driver entry in the registry. Open Regedit and navigate to: [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<driver name>] May be: [HKL\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mrtrate] Backup and delete. Restart Windows -- Ramesh, Microsoft MVP Windows XP Shell/User http://windowsxp.mvps.org "Greg" <oliva1@cox.net> wrote in message news:Oy5Xoy9DFHA.1348@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > Windows XP Pro Media Center Edition. > I checked the Event Viewer and I am getting a Service Control Manager > Error in the System Log every time the computer is started. Quicken was preinstalled on my computer when I bought it. I have never used the program. The file mrtrate.dll is not on the computer. I had the same problem. I uninstalled Quicken and the error went away. It was also preinstalled on my PC. -- To err is human, but to really foul things up requires a computer.
