urlmon.dll BSOD & no boot

I am getting a "STOP C0000221 bad image checksum error on urlmon.dll" blue
screen. Client said one day after no known changes the machine just started
a boot loop. After several useless rescue attempts, I reloaded the OS,
checked for
virus' and spyware, and let the machine sit. After about 2 hours, the
machine started looping again. I have disabled most devices and no change -
cannot get into even a DOS prompt. Today, I get a call from a guy with the
exact same problem on a W2000 machine!
Any real help out there?

Re: urlmon.dll BSOD & no boot

posted in XP general too. <repeat>
yes I read that. However it does not explain why after disabling most
everything, and reinstalling the OS, the machine would work fine for several
hours, then start crashing again. Ubnless heat is affecting hardware. Or
auto updates are crashing it. So is it a dead machine?
