Error 1324. The path Extended Games contains an invalid character

I'am trying to re-instally Microsoft Flight Simulator X, on my external hard
drive, after having some problems with it when it was previously installed,
missing files etc, one moment it was working and the next not, I trying to
uninstall/repair the game but the following error occurred, I manually
deleted the the folder on content that the gfame was in after the error msg
appeared hoping that this would solve it, I have also edited the regedit
file's actually deleted and still I get the same error msg

Error 1324, The path Extended Games contains an invalid character..

What can I do to resolve this pain in the ass of a problem, please help
thank u in advance to those that do respond.

Hi John Lewis,

Based on your post, you should skip right down to step C on this list ...

Here's how to uninstall a game when using Add-Remove programs fails:

Step A: Start your computer in Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key.

Step B: Reinstall the game to the same folder it was installed to originally,
and then try to uninstall it again using Add-Remove programs. If
that fails, delete it's folder and any save games in My Documents.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the
game, delete them: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html

Re: Error 1324. The path Extended Games contains an invalid chara

Thanks Jimmy,

I have tried this program but only one draw back I have to purchase the
program in order to delete the reg for the game, as I don't have a
Credit/Switch card or ability to put funds into my paypal accoun t I'm not
able to do this, so I am not better off, unless I again re-install Windows
from scratch, as for some reason I'm having trouble also getting the PC to
access Safe Mode Pressing F8 on my Packard Bell PC doesn't bring up Safe Mode
F5 is and this is being a big problem as well. Currently I'm not feeling
happy about the issue, but I'm sure at some point I will get the matter
resolved. But thank you very much for you're help and reply. Much
appreciated.

Re: Error 1324. The path Extended Games contains an invalid chara

I have tried the regCleaner again, but I'm not able to locate the correct
path or regfile, deleted what was related to FSX but still I get the same
error msg. I am going to take it to PC World in order to deal with another
matter problem with Random Access Memory error, system blue screen far too
much for my liking, Packard Bell Imedia MC2569 CORE 2 Duo, seems to a good
machine when working correctly, but I'm just not happy with the blue
screening issues, so i will have to get them to re-master the hard driver and
check the hardware also to confirm if the are any hardware issues.

I will keep you posted on this.

But again thanks for you advice.

RE: Error 1324. The path Extended Games contains an invalid character

Hi John,

I recently posted in a thread regarding error 1324:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...f6f9b52050e2fb
Do a search (if necessary) to locate the Extended Games folder, and if a
reference to Extended Games appears in the specified registry key, ensure
that the path in the Value data field is correct.

Hi Patti,

Thanks for your advice, have managed to solve the problem which has taken
about 2 hours to sort out because I deleted every single entry listed in the
regedit, I am now in the process of re-installing FSX which is going well so
far.

Thanks again. very much appreciated.
