Battlefield 2142 start-up problem

When I try to start-up the Battlefiel 2142 demo I get an error message that
says
"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_29.dll was not found."

[Is there some way I can get this file?]

I plan to buy this game soon and the reason it bothers me is because a
similar issued occurs like this before with a different game demo, and when I
got the full game it had the exact same problem. (this was simply fixed by
tech support giving me a file for my system32 folder that was missing. I
don't remember which tech support I used for that...)

I've tried re-downloading and re-installing it several times, and I am
certain my computer has all the basic requirements.
