Re: Error Code 81000314

I'm located in Singapore, South East Asia

This problem has happened since last night, at about 11PM in my area (+8GMT)
I tried to log in this afternoon (about 2PM). It was successful, but it
suddenly went off again

This problem is the same for the both computers in my house.

I've tried all the methods - using the command prompt, adding lines to host file, and Run> copying .dll files.

I could log in at about 2PM (+8GMT/about 7 hours ago), but then it lost connection again. It's getting on my nerves.

Awesome, look like everyone has the same problem.
Well, yesterday, on my laptop I couldn't login but I could on my desktop.
Now I can't on both =/
Time to switch over to a new IM? xD

HAHA, just after I posted this I managed to login :P Just keep clicking 'Retry'

Solution

Hey to all of you:
here you have a great solution that has worked fine for me and several others:

Go to Start > Run and type "regsvr32 softpub.dll" without the
quotes, then hit ok.
Ps. in Windows Vista there's no run, so just type "cmd" (without the quotes) in
the start search box and hit enter :)

Good luck!

same 81000314 error - fixed somehow

I was getting knocked off yesterday, then eventually could not log in - got the 81000314 error message. I tried the diagnostics that poped up - said I could not make an HTTP connection - but had to look at a log file - forgot where it came from - sorry. This maybe coincidently started after Microsoft pushed a bunch of security updates for XP Media Center.

I'm using Live Messenger 8.5.1302.x

I'm not sure how I fixed the problem, but here's what I did:
1) downloaded and updated new firmware for my Linksys router (I've been meaning to do this anyhow).
2) Tried to log in again and got same error (wasn't the problem)
3) Ran the diagnostics again - which showed everything is OK, then tried the Repair option.
4) I happened to notice Symantic's Norton Protection Center (piece of junk) had a dialog box hidden in the background to authorize a program's access to the internet, which I allowed - I think it was for the Diagnistics.
5) I went into the Messenter Tools, following the Microsoft diagnostics steps:

1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
2. Under Connection, click Advanced Settings.
3. In the Settings dialog box, click Test in the HTTP section. When the test results appear in the Connection Tester dialog box, click OK.
4. Click OK, and then click OK again.

Everything worked OK. so I went back to the Connections menu and clicked on the Refresh button. I don't remember if there were other steps, but I asked it to connect, and for some reason it worked.

I'm not sure what fixed the problem. I suspect the Microsoft security updates was not interacting with Norton Protection Center properly. Just a theory.

Good luck everyone.

Re: FIX Error Code 81000314

Greetings,

This is a bad idea. The service was just a tad unstable today for at most 20-30 minutes. I
would recommend you remove these now.
