If you're using a broadband connection, disconnect from the Internet then
disable your antivirus program. Does it make any difference?

this is exactly the same problem I had. I've since uninstalled Acer E-Lock Management (no idea what it does, never used it anyway), and my system is working again.

According to the site, this might be caused by any of these:

An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including
main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including
remote control and antivirus software)

Do you know of a workaround, if say for example my antivirus software is
what is causing all this. I am using McAfee and this problems started after
the installation. PS since the purchase has already been made, replacement
may not be a viable option.

Are you still there Will.

I also don't understand why the error is pointing to ialmdev5.DLL an Intel
Corporation Component GHAL Driver.

Please if you can assist.

Did you ever get a good resolutions for this problem as I have the exact same problem and errors on 6 different computers? I automatically assumed it must be a virus but I scanned from a Norton 2009 boot CD which connects to the internet and downloads and update before scanning and it come up with no threats.

As a follow up to my own question. I have solved the problem. It turns out that Acer E-Lock Management doesnt like one of the new updates in AVG and that was causing the problem. Either uninstalling AVG or Acer E-Lock Management fixes the problem.

Hello, sorry for bumping such an old post but this BSOD has just happened to me with the same statement page_fault_in_nonpaged_area. I tried taking out the RAM and putting it back in or a different one but the error still occured. For some reason, when I do not connect to the internet it does not happen but when I do connect to the internet, the error does happen.

Any help? or shoould I just make a new post?

Hi I am new here so, if I missed something up there, please forgive me.

Anyways after I did some MS updates I got the dreaded blue screen error, saying PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

The tech info on that page is:

** STOP:( 0x80098004, 0x00000001, 0x80515103,0x00000000 )

Now here's the deal, I know I need to go in using safe mode to fix whatever needs to be fixed but it won't let me passed the blue screen error, even after I shut the machine off. I also tried to reformat but it took me to the setup screen and then kind of froze there. Also when starting up and tapping F12 a keyboard error will come up sometimes. I have tried almost everything and still can't work it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated and in lay mans terms if possible.

I think I have the same problem.
After getting that page_fault...etc blue screen and not being able to do anything even in any of the safe modes, I tried to figure out what was causing the problem. Turns out it is a virus if it doesn't let you use safe mode even. So we took the computer to professionals to see what they thought was wrong, and turns out they came up with that it is a virus too.
The solution was to restart windows and basiclly lose all the data, and we can do that ourselves. But in order to save the information on there and restart windows is really expensive and we don't know how to do that.
Please let me know if you found a way to fix this problem without losing data.

Please post a copy of the Stop Error report.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.Do not re-enable automatic restart on system
failure.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

What do yiu have by way of a Windows XP CD

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?
A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP

Also you will likely find a copy of the Report with some detail missing
in the system log of Event viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Use an Air Duster to remove dust inside the computer casing. Are the

0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was
referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video
RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus
software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems
(e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).

Re: Page_Fault_in_nonpaged_area

If you cannot load the OS, and have important data you need, you can pull the hard drive out and put it as a secondary one in another computer and access it. I like to keep around an external enclosure for such an event.

(BACK UP ALL MUSIC, VIDEO, DOC, PICTURE FILES ON A FLASH KEY OR CD-R)

BSOH otherwise known as Microsoft's "BLUE SCREEN OF HELL"

If you are unfortunate enough to encounter the following error after a computer crash

page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

Then you're going to need the cd that came with your computer in the case of dell it is called "Operating System windows xp"

Turn ON the computer
keep the F2 button pressed at start up to get into the options menu in Win XP vers.
Make sure the the Boot Sequence is setup to start up the CD drive before the c: drive
Restart the computer and when the cd program asks you whether to install a new copy of win XP or repair the files Click on Repair

You're computer's Video might get damaged
go to the property option at the desktop by clicking the right mouse button on the desktop screen and clicking properties once in properties click on settings then look to see what the name of the plug and play driver is
go to dell.com and download that driver and install it

ALL YOUR INFORMATION SHOULD STILL BE THERE SO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS
(MAKE A COPY OF ALL YOUR MUSIC, VIDEO, DOC, PICTURE FILES AND PUT IT ON A MEMORY KEY A.S.A.P) NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS RE-INSTAL THE WIN XP VERS. DO NOT REPAIR

Re: Page_Fault_in_nonpaged_area

As usual with almost everything he says here, Andrew E. gets this
wrong again. Using a factor (2X or any other factor) is completely
wrong.

So if someone has 64MB of RAM (the official minimum for Windows XP),
he should have 128MB of page file? If your page file is that small,
the computer will hardly be able to run any applications at all.

And if you have 2GB of RAM (more than most people need), you should
have 4GB of page file? That's almost certainly far more than is
needed, and is just a waste of disk space.
