Age of Empires III display problem

I have intalled Age of Empires III on my pc and having some issues with the display. I am using an Asus mobo, with 2gb ram and 7800 gt video card. I got a LG 21" lcd monitor as well. The minimum requirement to play this game is already met by my system. If I am trying to run the game then I have the title screen lock up, another time it was supposed to go to the main screen but went black and I cannot hear the music playing still. But mainly when I do get into the game and I am sitting at the main screen I see tearing/flickering. I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers and I have altered settings for graphics but its always there? Can anyone please help me out? Thanks.

It might be a hardware problem that is causing the freezing, black screens and other errors. Since your drivers are already up to date, then try to update DirectX and your Chipset, Sound, & Video Drivers. Clean the dust from your fans, vents and components using a paint brush. It could be also an issue of faulty power supply that can cause stop errors, random restarts and black screen lockups.

I have recently build this system and it is brand new, just a week old. So, I checked that directx is the latest version, fans are clean, psu is new which is of 600 watt and ram was also tested. I was able to play AOE for couple of minutes and then the freezing started. Aftr that I restarted and decided to play COD and it worked pretty well.

hi, i was just searching google when i saw ur forums. i was searching for AoE 3 flickering.

seems i also have flickering problems. im running a laptop (Core 2 Duo, 3gb ram intel x3100 video card), it's brand new HP, but my problem could be video card related. im running at min settings. however when i saw that other members were having similar issues but using a x64 system, i realized that it could be my OS. im running Vista Business x64.

    Hi freepretender,

It seems that you are using onboard video to play this game but with a local Bus SVGA video adapter with 1 MB of Video RAM and a color SVGA monitor, it should work fine. You can try to do the following to resolve the issue that you are facing:
    • Start the game.
    • Click Help and Tools, and then click Options.
    • Click Graphics Settings.
    • Set Shader to Low.

Or download and install the latest game update. To do this, visit the following Ensemble Studios Web site:
    http://www.agecommunity.com/gameUpdates.aspx

If the issue continues to occur, you may have to purchase different video card.
