Which is better Chkdsk or Scandsk?

I need some help between choosing chkdsk and scandsk. Before I was using windows 98. Later on I upgraded to Windows XP. Now I had found that compared to scandsk, chkdsk found much more errors and fixes them properly. And here looks like scandisk.exe is simply ignoring number of thing. I want some help here to find out tools that can scan and repair a number of problems of computer.

Chkdsk is more reliable. And tools like this are only able to fix your system issue if there are only software level issues. While if there is a any hardware level problem they can only notify you. While there are some better tools available that can scan your system much more properly and give a appropriate output. I am sure that will be more than enough.

There are some free hard drive scanners that works really well with any hard drive. I am going to list some of them. If you are not willing to use chkdsk type tool, this are good alternative. You can try tools like Seagate Seatools, WD LifeGuard, Bart stuff test, etc. Tools like HDDScan are also quiet better in finding out problem with hard drive and deal with various hardware issues.
