This patch package could not be opened

I am running Windows XP Pro. I replaced my failing hard drive and copied all
my files over to the new drive. I am also using Windows Outlook XP. When I
start the program, I get Outlook 97 opening with two error messages: one for
scrptxtn.dll and one for frmrdrct.dll that could not be installed or loaded.

When I try to reinstall Outlook XP from the CD, I get the meassge, :This
patch package could not be opened.

I've tried downloading updates for Outlook XP, Windows XP, and Windows
Installer but have had no luck. I have found nothing I can understand about
patch packages at Microsoft.com.

I am not running these Office
programs. I am still running Office 97 and it is not on the list generated
by the Installer Cleanup. What program do I remove? Outlook 2002?

Remove the installer information for OL2002 using MSI Cleanup utility and then reinstall from CD.

You're a godsend! I had searched support
for this and found two other articles, 236597 and 812490 but not this one.

Hi Ramesh,

I am a new member. I have the same error message when I try to unistall or install CorelDraw X3. It happened when I try to use the install program to repair some of the corrupted files. When the install tries to load the files I get the error message.

Please help.
